Tangible Announces Portland Office and Expands National Team

CHICAGO (August 12, 2008) — Tangible Worldwide, a design and lifestyle communications agency based in Chicago, has recently added five to its employee roster and is opening a second office to serve as a hub in the Pacific Northwest.

“Portland is a critical first step in our group's expansion plan” said Merrick, Tangible president/ecd. “Beyond enhanced client and talent visibility on the west coast, this move will also allow us to expand the local lifestyle and design perspective we offer our clients.”

Portland is Tangible’s second U.S. office, with headquarters remaining in Chicago. In preparation for this expansion, Tangible has added account and creative staff in both Portland and Chicago offices.

Keith Biehn, a 15-year industry veteran and Portland-native, joins as Business Development Director in Portland. He has an impressive client roster, which includes Nike, Adidas, Dr. Martens, Universal Studios Interactive, Oregon State Lottery, Bridgeport Brewing, Intel, Microsoft, Nintendo, Disney and NBA, to name a few, while working with a handful of agencies in the Portland/Seattle area, most recently with Ricochet Partners.

Sharon Choo joins Tangible as Account Supervisor in Portland. She was previously at McCann Erickson in San Francisco. Prior to McCann, she worked as an Account Executive for Rubin Postaer & Associates in Portland and spent four years on the media side at Horizon Media in Los Angeles. Her client experience includes Cathay Pacific Airways, Honda, IKEA and Vivendi Universal Games.

On the creative side, Kim Shafer has joined Tangible as Creative Director and comes from Saatchi & Saatchi X. She has more than 10 years of industry experience, most of that time spent with Publicis and DMB&B, both in New York. Her brand portfolio includes Tumi, Sprint, Heineken, Vicks, Ann Taylor, UBS, Mountain Dew, Speedvision and Outdoor Life Network.  Kim will be based in the Chicago office, overseeing creative efforts nationally.

Tangible has also added Colby Nichols to the growing roster of creative talent as an art director in the new Portland office. Colby will be joined by Keith and Sharon, as well as former Portland-native, famed comic book illustrator and longtime Lakonic/Tangible employee, Ezra Claytan Daniels, and a handful of yet-to-be-named new hires. Tangible president/ecd Merrick will also be onsite to design and manage the office space buildout and review creative, technology and account candidates throughout August and September 2008.

And, Tangible also welcomes Andy Wardrep, designer, to the Chicago creative team. Andy recently joined the agency as a full-time employee after a summer internship. Andy is a graduate of The Creative Circus in Atlanta.
